Weekly Window Update: I’m already sick of it

Here we are again, reviewing the last weeks transfer news, gossip, reports and rumours. I’m sorry that this is a day or two late, but we had a thunderstorm on Wednesday, which has killed our internet at home, so I’ve had to wait until today to get online. Anyway, let’s start with some confirmed news.

Liverpool have just officially confirmed their £34m signing of Mohamed Salah from Roma. The Egyptian winger may sound familiar, he had an unspectacular stint at Chelsea, scoring just 2 goals in 19 apperances, and going on loan to Fiorentina, where he scored more in one season than in his whole Chelsea career, and Roma, before signing permanently for I Lupi on August 3rd 2016.

The Egyptian has blistering pace, explosive flair and excellent dribbling and ball control, but sometimes his end product has been known to be poor. To me, he sounds like the perfect signing for The Reds. Liverpool relied massively on Sadio Mane’s pace and flair last season, and they looked very poor when he was missing, so a second injection of speed and skill can do nothing but good. If they add another solid defender, a goalkeeper and an out and out striker, they will be unstoppable.salah liverpool.PNG

Everton have made another signing too, bringing in Ajax captain Davy Klaassen for around £23m, providing Ross Barkley with the vital competition that could pressure him into reaching his potential. Klaassen is a hard-working, classic dutch midfielder who, at just 24, has captained captained Ajax for two years and is a really dominant figure in the midfield.

Man United’s supposed chasing of Alvaro Morata has reportedly stalled because of the Spaniard’s wedding, however United are still set to sign him once a fee has been agreed with Real Madrid. I’m still a little apprehensive about the transfer, but I don’t think United would have risked releasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic if they didn’t have a top class striker in line.

Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have been at the forefront of the speculation in recent days, with Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool all linked with Sanchez in particular. Also, reports have surfaced that should Ozil and Sanchez sign new contracts Arsenal would be in serious trouble of breaching the FA’s rules on wage control. However, an Arsenal side without Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil would be in serious need of talent, which Arsene Wenger would probably be against splashing the cash en mass on.

So, yet another week has passed and yet another set of transfer rumours and signings have come. What do you think about Liverpool’s new signing? Do you think Morata will sign for United? Who do you see where next season? Please leave your opinion in the comments below.
