Weekly Window Update: Rumor Mill Keeps Turning

So, compared to recent times, it’s been a fairly slow week in terms of transfer news and gossip but one young man has really been the centre of attention over the last couple of days. I’ll give you a clue, he’s French, and Arsenal are after him. Nothing new I guess. Anyway, It’s 18-year-old Monaco Winger Kylian Mbappé!

The wide-man scored 26 goals in 44 appearances last season in all club competitions, he already has 4 caps for the national team, was included in UEFA’s Champions League Team Of The Season, and is the second youngest player to play for the French national team. He has been strongly linked, mainly by The Metro, The Sun and The Telegraph (take that how you will), to Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Man United, and has claimed that Real Madrid have been trying to sign him since he was eleven. We know that during his time at the famous Clairefontaine academy he was chased by a number of big clubs, including Real Madrid, Valencia, and he even played a youth team game for Chelsea before eventually settling on Monaco.

In other news, Everton are set to sign Sunderland’s highly-rated young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for £30m, as sum which, to me at least, seems very high for someone who, at 23, does have plenty of years ahead of him, but needs to be doing better now if he is to truly fulfill his obvious potential. I would be happy to sign him for £15m or so at most, but £30m seems a little steep.pickford everton

Manchester United have also, in the last few minutes, announced their first signing of the summer. Victor Lindelöf has signed for an officially undisclosed fee, however, it is expected to be around the £30m mark. The 22-year-old Swedish Centre-Back played all of Sweden’s group games in Euro 2016.

So, I guess that’s about it. Other than the ever-present rumours on the sceptical moves like Neymar to Man United, Messi to Man City and Harry Kane to Man United. Please leave a comment down below with any more transfer news, and with any other general queries, questions and comments.
